Why FTTH design still feels harder than it should

Design lives in the wrong tools

Many teams still sketch routes in AutoCAD or Google Earth, count materials in Excel, and rebuild contractor maps somewhere else. Every handoff adds translation errors before anyone in the field sees the plan.

Design and inventory are not the same record

When the splice sheet, BOM, and map all come from different files, construction crews build from whatever export was latest. Field changes rarely make it back — and the design file goes stale within the first build season.

No clear path from design to operations

Without one project map that can move from Planned to Active, teams redesign the same network twice: once for construction, again for operations. That is extra work operators should not have to carry.

Place plant and draw fiber on Google Maps

Add locations, cables, multiducts, and equipment with accurate coordinates. Draw fiber routes, splices, splitters, and drops the way your team already thinks about the network.

STEP 03

Validate and export construction deliverables

Trace light paths to catch connectivity issues before construction. Export the BOM to PDF or XLSX, generate splice and contractor outputs, and hand the same project to field crews when buildout begins.
