If you're an OSPInsight customer and you've received migration notices from IQGeo, you're not imagining things. IQGeo acquired OSPInsight in 2020 and has been consolidating the OSPInsight customer base into its flagship Network Manager Telecom (NMT) product. The sunsetting is real, it's ongoing, and OSPInsight customers now face a genuine fork in the road.
This article is our honest take on both paths — from a vendor who builds a direct competitor to both OSPInsight and IQGeo NMT, so read with that in mind.
What happened to OSPInsight
OSPInsight was a well-regarded, opinionated OSP management tool — focused, deployable, and priced for operators who weren't Tier-1 carriers. IQGeo acquired it in 2020 alongside several other acquisitions (including Comsof, the fiber design optimization vendor) to build out their product portfolio for telecom.
IQGeo's strategy is consolidation: move all acquired customer bases onto NMT, which is a larger, more complex platform built for Deutsche Telekom, AT&T, and comparable Tier-1 operators. OSPInsight customers — who specifically chose OSPInsight for its smaller footprint and OSP focus — are being told to adopt a product that was never designed for them.
Path A: Migrate to IQGeo Network Manager Telecom
IQGeo NMT is a mature, capable platform. It has real depth: AI-powered damage assessment (using drone imagery), advanced work-force management, and a large installed base including major UK and European carriers. It is also, unambiguously, a product built for large carriers — not the regional ISPs, electric coops, and engineering firms that made up much of OSPInsight's customer base.
- ·No public pricing — IQGeo does not publish prices. Expect enterprise-agreement negotiations.
- ·Deployment complexity — NMT's feature surface is substantially larger than OSPInsight. Expect a longer ramp.
- ·You're a small customer in a large vendor's portfolio — which means your voice in the product roadmap conversation is limited.
If you're a Tier-1 carrier or a large regional operator with a dedicated network management team, NMT might be the right call. If you're a 3,000-subscriber ISP or an engineering firm with 15 clients, you'll be paying carrier pricing for carrier complexity.
Path B: Switch vendors entirely
The other option is to treat the migration notice as an opportunity to re-evaluate the category. What OSPInsight users find in MapItRight: the OSP workflow mapping
OSPInsight's core workflows — strand inventory, splice tracing, outside plant records, work order management — map directly to MapItRight. The data model terminology differs (OSPInsight users will recognize the concepts but not all the field names), but the operational workflows are equivalent or better in most cases. The one exception: OSPInsight has deeper legacy equipment integration for older OSS/BSS systems. MapItRight's REST API handles most integration needs, but very custom legacy environments may need evaluation.

If you were buying it because your organization needed enterprise telecom GIS with carrier-grade workflow management and you were hoping OSPInsight would eventually grow into that — NMT is probably the right path. If you were buying it because it was the focused, right-sized OSP tool that your fiber engineers could actually use — you're more likely to be disappointed by NMT than served by it.
